Doing things out of spite just shows immaturity. Let’s not forget your parents do care about you and want the best for you.

Is your dad homophobic who knows, who cares, but his point is correct. More than likely your roommate will stiff you and/or bail on you especially when he doesn’t have a stable job/career. He will come to a point where he realizes this “security job” has no future and needs more money to live.

Yes people do have roommates of the same sex or opposite sex but it always comes with risks. Ask yourself this – how can you get along with someone when **you** are going up and they are going down?
References :
I'm an assitant property manager at an apartment complex and from my experience, roommates almost always never work out. There is always some tension, someone moves out, and if your left with the apartment or house, you're the one left paying for a bigger apartment than you need. I've seen it end life long friendships. Also your landlord may not let you remove your name from the lease if your the one who moves out. Then if the other person gets evicted, your name is on the eviction too, ruining your credit. The only person you can rely on is yourself.
References :
thats a no brainer, get a roommate. not only will you be saving on the rent but also the utilities and the interest on your loans when you pay them off faster. men sharing apartments is no taboo nor should you worry about people thinking you are gay, thats ridiculous. the only problem i foresee is that your friend might not be able to come up with that type of rent on a security guard salary.
References :
Males have roommates all the time. It's totally normal. Anyways, it doesn't matter if it seems gay or not (but those are my views). I think it's more important for you to save money and pay off your loans faster than to "not seem gay." Plus, it's nice being able to live with a friend when you're just starting from college because then you won't be alone and you'll have support and stuff.
References :
If you are activated or go to a school, they will (or rather should) pay you BAH.

To pay, your bills, why don't you just automate that stuff, regardless of whether you join the guard or not? I have my phone bill automatically charged to my credit card (which is automatically paid in full each month... I've never carried a credit card balance). Other stuff is automatically pulled from my checking or savings.
References :
I am Mrs Vanilla Pam,currently living in New florida,USA.I am a widow at the moment with three kids and i was stuck in a financial situation by may 2009 and i needed to refinance and pay my bills.I tried seeking loans from various loan firms both private and corporate but never with success, and most banks declined my credit. But as God would have it,i was introduced to a man of God a private loan lender by name Mr Lacus Robinson who gave me a loan of $75,000USD and today am a business owner and my kids are doing well at the moment. So dear,if you must contact any firm with reference to securing a loan with low interest rate of 3% and better repayment plans and schedule, please contact Mr Lacus Robinson. He doesn’t know that am doing this but am so happy now and i decided to let people know more about him and also i want God to bless him more. You can contact him through his email at lacuslendingfirm@gmail.com
References :
You pay your own bills.

Your wife needs to learn how to pay the bills.

What would happen if you got in a car accident or deployed.
References :
"people might think im gay"

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Guys at the age live together all the time. I always hated having roomates, but they do save you quite a bit of money. Do whatever you want. But don't think for a second that living with another guy makes you gay. My best friend and I lived together for 3 years and we both knew plenty of girls to hook each other up with. We were slaying a different piece of poon every weekend. Fun times my friend.
