Lenders require social security numbers as well as a photo ID issued by a governmental agency. Signatures on loan docs must be notarized by a notary public licensed by the state in which they work or a notary that work for a title company.
I have heard of family members turning on utilities in their children’s name, however they do not have the same stringent requirements that are required by those getting a mortgage.

If this is some kind of identity theft check with your parents insurance company. They will investigate if you have a legitimate claim. Otherwise I agree that it seems impossible for you to have a payment book on a mortgage.
You can go to your county clerk and have them pull up real estate records on the property in question and see all transfers of the property and any liens against the property.
ADDITION:
People securing credit must also have to show social security number and income taxes for last three years. Ask lenders to compare your social security number with that on the paperwork.
Question -are you being pestered for not making the payments? If you are not -what is the problem? Is it on your credit report if you are now of age to even have credit?

maybe you’re lucky and the property is worth more than the amount owed.

start at the tax assessor’s office and search for yourself. you want to find out everything you can about this property and loan — where, when, date, etc. your search will take you from the tax assessor to the property recorder’s office where you’ll get the deed, etc.
make copy of the mortgage loan filing at the property recorder’s office.
then take the copy with your photo ID and original Social Security card to the firm that originated the loan and ask them all the embarrassing questions you want.
Hey, I’m this dude! But I didn’t sign this as I was only 16 at the time. What can you tell me about the loan that you think I owe on??

Of course, you could also visit the property in question [unless you recognize the address] and find out who lives in your house or pretends they own your land.

If it ends up that someone unknown has actually used your name in this way, you’ll likely need some legal advice in the state where this happened. you’ll also want to prove that you didn’t do it and that you’re not the one who owes on this and send all the proof to the credit reporting bureaus.
That starts with filing a police complaint for fraud. Someone clearly committed fraud on the mortgage loan by pretending to be you.
And, as another poster said — it probably was a relative whose credit is/was terrible and told a couple of lies to get a cheaper loan. Then you’ll have to decide whether to rat them out [file the fraud complaint] or handle the whole matter in a different fashion.

It seems like you may have been the victim of ID theft. If you were you will need to document it with a police report.
As for mortgage you were not of legal age, so you should not be responsible. CALL THE POLICE!
