Does the National Guard pay your bills and/or mortgage when you sign up? Or how does that work?

I have a good job right now, I have bills and a good mortgage payment. Its been weighing on my mind heavily to join the national guard. I use to be the army. I want to go back, but not quite the army so i think. Well, my wife has always been a stay at home mom.. and i have always been the one who paid the bills. How will this work now if i decide to join? Will bills still be paid or how does this work? Before when I was in the army i was still living with my parents, will no job, no family nothing, i was young and had nothing.. well, how will this work now?

Does the National Guard pay your bills and/or mortgage when you sign up? Or how does that work? -ROFLMAO!
If you were in the Regular Army, YOU should know the answer to your question!!!!!

YOU get your pay & allowances (according to your rank)

then you take care of your financial obligations!!!!

Unless, YOU are thinking of joining PVT Benjamin’s Army???!!!!

  2. The Guard (along with the reserves) is a PART TIME job. you will be required to conduct training (drill) at least one weekend a month for which you will be paid 4 days of active duty pay (no BAS or BAH) and two weeks in the summer (Annual Training) for which you will be paid for 15 days of active duty. The average person joins as a PVT/E-1 which makes about $188.00 for a SAT/SUn drill and about $800.00 for the annual training period.

If you can pay your bills and a mortgage with that go for it.

  3. You are paid while you are on active duty, and for attending drills and summer camp.
Managing your own personal finances is your problem, not theirs.—just like with your civilian job.

  5. The National Guard is not going to send the bank a paycheck on your behalf. The pay is a fraction of active duty pay. It’s only about a few hundred dollars a month. I don’t know what your prior service was but an example is an E-5 with six years of service only makes $344/month. When you go to BCT or AIT (if you have to) that counts as active duty so you will receive active duty pay. Your pay will be direct deposited in your account. If you pay your bills and mortgage with it that’s up to you. Every little bit helps but you definitely won’t get rich in the National Guard.

    You pay your own bills.

Your wife needs to learn how to pay the bills.

What would happen if you got in a car accident or deployed.

  7. If you are activated or go to a school, they will (or rather should) pay you BAH.

To pay, your bills, why don’t you just automate that stuff, regardless of whether you join the guard or not? I have my phone bill automatically charged to my credit card (which is automatically paid in full each month… I’ve never carried a credit card balance). Other stuff is automatically pulled from my checking or savings.
